HELICAL PIER APPLICATIONS
New Construction - Foundation Repair - Solar Foundations - Tie-Back Piles - Elevated Walkways
- New Construction -
New construction helical piles are the quick and cost effective deep foundation solution for residential, commercial/industrial, heavy highway, pipeline, boardwalks, towers and more. New construction piles consist of lead sections, bolted couplings, extensions and pile caps. Typically they are used as sub surface support for foundations where soils are not suitable for building. The size of the helix and diameter of the shaft will vary depending on the load of the structure. The depth of the pile will depend on the suitability of soils beneath the structure. 1 ½” square shaft or 2 7/8” round shaft piles are usually sufficient to carry residential loads. Commercial structures will sometimes require larger diameter piles to accommodate greater loads.

Advantages
- Instant torque-to-capacity readings using digital or hydraulic monitoring equipment.
- No spoils generated.
- No vibrations generated.
- Ease and speed of installation. Faster than all other deep foundation systems.
- Installed in limited access sites.
- No waiting for concrete curing.
- Foundation Repair -
Earth Anchoring Suppliers offers a complete system of helical piles and underpinning brackets to solve foundation settlement for residential and commercial applications. Cracked walls and doors or windows that are difficult to open and close are usually a sign of foundation failure, as well as basement walls with vertical and horizontal cracks. Helical piles are the most cost effective method available for foundation repair and are permanent. Don’t let a sinking foundation devalue what is (for most people) the largest investment ever.
Typical installation: The area of concern is excavated adjacent to the foundation wall and to the bottom of the foundation at each location where a helical pile is specified. A pile is installed adjacent to the foundation wall in the excavated area. A bracket is then attached to the foundation base and a hydraulic lifting jack will be used to either raise the foundation or stabilize it in its current position using the installed foundation pile. The underpinning bracket and foundation pile are then locked in position and the excavation is back-filled.

Advantages
- Minimal excavation is required in and around the affected area.
- Installs quickly with small or hand held equipment.
- Permanent. The structure will not sink any further. Guaranteed.
- No vibration, no spoils.
- Hot dipped galvanized for corrosion protection.
- Solar Foundations -
Earth Anchoring Suppliers offers a broad range of helical foundation piles to support solar energy racks and panels. Helical piles are the fastest and most economical support system available for ground based solar installations. Hundreds of piles can be installed in a day with no auguring, no spoils and no concrete. As the solar power industry expands, designers are increasingly calling for helical piles because of their ability with withstand both tension and compression loads. From backyard installations to 20 acre solar farms, helical piles are the go-to product for solar foundation support.

Advantages
- Time saving installation.
- Minimal to no environmental impact.
- No vibration, minimal noise.
- Helical piles provide greater tension and compression success in shallow depths.
- Tie-Backs -
Tie-back piles are typically used for excavation retention, bulkheads, seawalls, retaining walls and roadway abutments. Instead of using what is commonly referred to as a Deadman (heavy anchor), helical piles are driven in at a shallow angle and used to secure a shear wall with the aid of a whaler. Following the installation, the piles are usually proof tested and post tensioned. The process is repeated for the second and subsequent rows of tie-backs. At Earth Anchoring Suppliers we carry a diverse inventory of piles, adapters and Williams Bar for tie-back applications.

- Boardwalks and Walkways -
Elevated walkways are usually found in environmentally sensitive areas and are used for public viewing of wetlands, marshes, beach fronts, prairies, and historical sites. The installation of helical piles for support is the fastest and most economical solution to getting the project done on time and under budget. Similar to new construction piles, they are installed using small or hand held equipment as the walkway is being constructed. A beam bracket is bolted to the wood stringers and the main beams, decking and railings are added to complete the finished project. Various elevations and angles can easily be achieved in the most challenging conditions.
