-New Construction-Streetlight Foundation: Poplar Street Development~Glassboro, NJ-

The Project:
Poplar Street Development project was designed and developed to add additional, year-round housing options to the market around Rowan University. The apartment building is located right off of the main thoroughfare and is a short walk from the town’s main business and entertainment district. 

The property was originally slated to be built into 52 townhouses but only 15 units were built and construction has halted in 2013. The original developer sold the property to Nexus Development who had faced opposition from the town on building the 4 story, 125-unit apartment building. In 2018 the town officially gave the go-ahead with revisions to accommodate and lessen the impact of construction on the surrounding community.

The Situation:
During the initial process of designing the lighting foundations, an alternative source had been offered to the installer, FM Schiavone Construction. They rejected the proposed materials and requested CHANCE™’s Streetlight Foundations be used due to their superior strength and composition. When talking with the foreman, Carlo Defeo, cited concerns of the competitors’ product, they were concerned that it would not hold up over time. He also stated “we always recommend CHANCE materials given the opportunity due to their proven strength, and durability”.

The Solution:
Nexus Developers worked with engineers to determine which CHANCE Streetlight Foundation would be the right fit. Due to limited space for installation, they chose CHANCE’s C11232JG4VL: 6.63 OD X 60” with a 12” Helix to install throughout the property.

Plans spec’d (13) CHANCE Streetlight Foundations be installed on either side of the apartment building. These foundations were installed in 2 days with no issues by FM Schiavone’s team. The foreman on site, Carlo Defeo, says he prefers CHANCE’s products due to the ease of installation, especially in the South Jersey soils. On day two of installation, wiring of the foundations began and was expected to be completed within the next 3-4 days.
