New Construction: Oceanside Environmental Staircase

The Project
​Secure massive wooden staircases on large, steep sand dunes.

The Situation
Secure two massive ocean-side staircases in the huge sand dunes overlooking the Atlantic in Truro near the tip of Cape Cod.  The staircases include six platform each and drop over 30 feet from the residences at the top of the dune to the beach below.  The area has limited access and is in the environmentally protected National Seashore.

The Solution
Helical piles were installed using low-to-know impact handheld drive equipment.  CHANCE 2.875” x .203” wall round shaft helical piles were used to secure them to the steep dunes.  The battered piles were CHANCE SS5 square shaft helical piles.   Residents now can gain access easily.  The staircases are both beautiful and respectful of the remote habitat of the upper Cape.
