Utilities Foundation Support

Shore was contracted by Furino Construction of Plainfield, NJ to install twenty four Helical Pulldown® Micropiles at PSE&G’s Essex Switching Station in Newark, NJ.

PSE&G is in the process of upgrading it’s foundations for large gas filled capacitors but due to unsuitable subsurface conditions additional support was required. SS150 piles were installed incased in 4” schedule 40 steel pipe to 35’ below grade. The area where the work was performed was strictly sectioned off as the switchyard is a high voltage area and can be dangerous if proper safety precautions are not followed. PSE&G conducted several levels of safety training for everyone involved in the project before allowing work to begin. Shore completed the job in two days as described in the scope of work.
